The Department of Security Studies in the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University seeks to employ a tenure-track Assistant Professor for the fall of 2025. The Department currently offers a Master of Science in Homeland Security Studies, two graduate certificate programs, BS and BA programs in Homeland Security Studies, four undergraduate certificates, and a minor. The Department is open to applications from scholars whose expertise complements the department's strengths.
Successful applicants will have completed a PhD (other types of doctoral degrees will not be accepted) in a field of study that has prepared them to achieve excellence in university-level teaching and scholarship in one or more areas within the Homeland Security Enterprise. This can include, but is not limited to, the disciplines of homeland security studies, political science, or public policy.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the potential to meet the traditional rigor of tenure-track academic work (teaching, scholarship, and university service).
The position will be on-site but most, or all, the instruction will be online and thus we are looking for candidates comfortable with and committed to online education.
To ensure full consideration, applications should include a letter of interest, a current vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research & goals, unofficial transcripts, and three letters of recommendation via
