Job Summary / Basic Function:


Job Summary:The Instructor of Welding's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in Welding courses, including dual credit high school students; maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day and/or night classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations. This individual is also responsible for maintaining office hours. This individual helps coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings; attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; assists in the development of curriculum, as needed; and maintain program computer labs. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention as a part of achieving the Institute's Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.



Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Actively engage students in the learning process

  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior

  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to, committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting

  • Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses

  • Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees

  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills

  • Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education

  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum

  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed

  • Perform other related duties, as required





WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are a representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the essential functions of this job, work is normally performed in a typical interior/exterior/office/classroom work environment with moderate noise. Some evenings, weekends and extended working hours may be required during registration periods.
Minimum Qualifications:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • An Associate Degree in Welding Technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.

  • Five years of work experience in Welding Technology

  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies

  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Possess good time management skills


Preferred Qualifications:


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field

  • Related field and/or industry certifications

Commensurate
