The HR Generalist at Vertiv plays a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day human resources operations within our manufacturing plant. This role involves a comprehensive understanding of HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, and training. The HR Generalist will work closely with plant leadership and employees to foster a positive work environment and ensure that HR policies are effectively implemented.
This position will over our weekend shift and the expected days and hours are Friday - Monday, 8 am - 5 pm. We can be flexible with the suggested hours but need weekends to be covered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and grievances. Provide guidance and support to employees and management on HR-related issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
Talent Acquisition: Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs. Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition team on the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding for both hourly and salaried positions.
Performance Management: Support the performance review process by guiding managers in setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and addressing performance issues. Assist in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans.
Compliance: Ensure the manufacturing plant's adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law changes and recommend necessary adjustments to HR policies and practices.
Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate with training department for programs for employees, focusing on skill development, safety procedures, and compliance.
HR Administration: Oversee the maintenance of employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Handle HR documentation, including investigative notes, promotional offers, disciplinary actions, and termination paperwork. Analyze employment related data and prepare required reports.
Safety and Wellness: Collaborate with the safety team to promote a safe working environment. Participate in safety committees, support wellness programs, and assist in incident investigations.
Compensation and Benefits: Provide information and assistance to employees regarding compensation and benefits programs. Assist with benefits enrollment and address employee questions or concerns about benefits.
Workforce Planning: Assist in the development and execution of workforce planning strategies to meet the plant's production needs. Support initiatives for improving employee retention and reducing turnover.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment laws, and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with employees at all levels.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This role is primarily based in a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve exposure to various production processes. The HR Generalist should be comfortable with occasional standing, walking, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
