Position Overview
As the Materials & Scheduling Supervisor, you will monitor packaging material related activities personally or through subordinates while also coordinating production schedules.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Assists with development and management of the master production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Assists with analysis of production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
Discusses with department managers and supervisors to determine status of production schedules.
Assists with oversight of activities related to the procurement function.
Implements systems to evaluate vendor quotations, while utilizing appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
Assists with recruitment and management of relationships with suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices. Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
Monitors quality of packaging material received from manufacturer. Works with suppliers in resolving issues regarding packaging material non-conformance.
Assists with preparation and review of contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
Monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
Supervises continuous improvement efforts to raise manufacturing performance to meet and exceed critical Plant Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost KPI's.
Develops, trains, and educates employees on materials and scheduling duties and functions.
Assists with analysis of market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field from four-year College or University
Two or more years of experience in a supervisory role in a non-durable consumer products manufacturing environment
Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or similar certification preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
Knowledge of SAP or similar MRP process experience
Valid Driver's License.
Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Plant Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment from production machinery is usually very loud.
