The Quality Assurance Supervisor assists the Manager, Food Safety & Quality with the day-to-day operations within the Technical Department. Review and modify paperwork, HACCP Programs, SOP's, other pre-requisite materials related to food safety to improve quality and compliance. Work with the management in Food Safety, Sanitation, and Production to improve policy, procedures, and training. Actively participate in the worker safety program to assist Manager, Food Safety & Quality with Food Safety and OSHA compliance. Interact with on-site USDA officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that all company quality standards are being met.
Ensure that all government regulations are being met.
Ensure HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, & all Quality programs are being followed.
Direct the daily activities of the Quality Assurance technicians.
Train new QA, sanitation, & housekeeping personnel.
Participate in and train personnel on quality (organoleptic) evaluations (taste, smell, texture, etc.)
Aide in the training of all personnel on HACCP, GMPs, & Safety subject matter.
Review quality assurance paperwork for accuracy and verification.
Organize all record keeping activities.
Perform monthly audits of manufacturing and warehouse locations at facility.
Administer hold and release policies.
Assist with implementation and development of new QA policies.
Direct handling of out-of-specification product.
Communicate with departments within the company regarding product quality issues.
Manage the certifications of all calibrated equipment (mercury thermometers, temperature loggers, known weights, ATP rods)
Assist Quality Manager with special projects.
Other Duties as required and/or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, ingredient specifications, operating and maintenance instructions, HACCP plans and procedure manuals.
Ability to calculate figures and comprehend mathematical concepts such as averages, bake loss, standard deviations, and drift. Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts is a plus.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Experience with root cause analysis techniques is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university: or one to two years related experience and/or training: or equivalent education & experience.
Internal promotion requires a minimum of a 3.5 average rating on the most recent performance review, a minimum of three years of experience.
1 or more years of experience leading teams is needed.
1 or more years of quality experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
HACCP and SQF Certification are preferred.
Should be proficient in the Microsoft suite of computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. Experience with other software titles such as SAP, Genesis and OneWire is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Spanish is preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate dilution rates to obtain specific final PPM concentrations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to train others, able to work independently without direct supervision, and good organizational skills are required.
CERTIFICATIONS
SQF Practitioner certification is a plus.
