Job Description:

Manages the Architectural Design support program and team, promotes the company to become a key resource for information, education and solutions for the Architectural and Design Community and drive demand for the Company's products. Increase sales through specifications and establishes a solid strategic base for the Company through driving the program and objectives. Ensures that inquiries are responded to timely and that the best solution is given to the architects. Tracks progress on program objectives and drives efficiencies to ensure program success. Responds to complex inquiries by web, email or phone as needed and obtains the necessary information on the project, complete drawings, specifications and facilitates obtaining the bid date to support the project.Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:


  • A minimum of seven years of related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, related field, or equivalent years of related experience (4 years)
  • Solid drafting skills (AutoCAD) essential
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)
  • Knowledge of commercial sectional & residential garage doors required.
  • Must be able to speak to door components and installation requirements to provide design assistance to architects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Revit/BIM experience ideal, (release 2013 or later is essential).
  • Knowledge of products, materials, fabrication processes and the Product Engineering process is an advantage.

  • Ensures that the applicable level of design and technical support is provided to architects and other design personnel as needed.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to team as needed on process, procedure and best practices.
  • Ensures that team is properly trained on expectations related to providing 'design assist' approach - a specification and detailed drawing to enable the architect to use on their project.
  • Ensures that the specification is written so that the Company's products are difficult for competitors to bid.
  • Aims for sole specification, basis of design, design listing in that order.
  • Ensures the appropriate information is documented in the CRM for project bid tracking and architect relationship management.
  • Develops process and trains team on use of CRM and providing CRM information for review and management.
  • Ensures a culture of continuous improvement on product and application knowledge and encourage collaboration with others in group.
  • Responds timely to complex projects as needed.
  • Completes drafting/design from Product Reps and provides guidance to team as needed,
  • Completes specifications, and other design related inquiries where necessary.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned by manager.
