This position provides Advanced (ALS) and Basic Emergency medical care and transportation to those experiencing illness/injury per established standards in accordance with Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Providers. Paramedics operate assigned emergency vehicles in accordance with applicable Maryland laws and standards.
Examples of Duties

Respond and provide appropriate EMS care to patients on calls for service.
Assure that all patient care documentation is complete prior to the end of the shift.
Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
Conduct regular inventory or assigned transport units, with particular attention to medications, fluids, and other materials subject to expiration.
Clean and fuel assigned vehicles as required.
Operate assigned vehicles in safe and reasonable manner in accordance with applicable traffic laws.
Follow all rules and regulations of Harford County.
Conduct self in a professional manner without regard to situation.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Comprehensive knowledge and skills in Advanced and Basic Life Support;
Ability to complete appropriate patient care reports in a timely manner;
Ability to operate emergency vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner;
Ability to work varying hours;
Knowledge of public safety communications systems;
Ability to load and lift and or carry patient transport devices under all conditions;
Ability to provide appropriate pre-hospital care during calls for service.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience as an active EMS provider with current ALS certification
LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid Class "D" or Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points. Please be advised this position requires a valid driver's license. Maryland Licensed Advanced Life Support Provider (Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate; Cardiac Rescue Technician; or Certified National Registered Paramedic)
Certification in MFRI Emergency Vehicle Operators Course or MFRI equivalent preferred
Certification in Hazmat Awareness, preferred.
SAFETY:
Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manual as required for this position.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants will be required to pass a written protocol test, a practical exam, and a physical.
Successful completion of Physical Agility Testing Required

RETIREE HEALTH CARE INSURANCE BENEFITS-
Employees hired on or after 7/1/2010 will have an automatic Retirement Health Savings account made available as the primary retiree healthcare benefit. This 105(h) Universal Reimbursement Account will only be able to be accessed upon separation of service and/or retirement whichever applicable. These accounts are employer funded, tax free, & portable with 20 different Nationwide investment options.
