Job Description:

LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for a full time Volunteer Engagement Specialist to join our Development team! The Volunteer Engagement Specialist supports the organization with the design and implementation of a comprehensive volunteer program. The Volunteer Engagement Specialist deeps community and donor engagement with LifeWorks mission through the support of client services, agency operations, and events. This role identifies meaningful volunteer opportunities that support agency needs; recruits, trains, supports, and leads recognition of volunteers; builds linkage with agency program and departments; and plans, organizes, and implements volunteer activities.

This full time, non-exempt position earns a competitive starting rate of $24.86-$27.17/hr depending upon experience. Benefits are also included, which consist of 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium-free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical, dental, and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions, and much more!

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Implements goals and measures impact of volunteer program in partnership with agency programs and departments.

  • Partners with cross-departmental staff to identify high-impact, innovative opportunities for existing and potential supporters to assist programs and departments, while deepening involvement with individuals as a means to enhance, cultivate, and steward supporter experience.

  • Develops and implements Agency volunteer program, including recruitment, screening, training, support, recognition, and retention of volunteers.

  • Trains relevant staff on effective volunteer engagement and management. Serves as the liaison between volunteers and staff to ensure effective communication, mutual understanding, and support.

  • Collaborates with the Development team to recruit individual and group volunteers to meet ongoing program and department needs.

  • Coordinates and manages group volunteer activities that support youth (e.g., Home Improvement Challenge), foster community connection (e.g., Trunk or Treat), and/or enhance LifeWorks facilities (e.g., community garden).

  • Leads volunteer events and fosters strong communication between donors, community members, and staff in order to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved and to solicit feedback about things that can be improved.

  • Communicates via email, phone, and/or verbally with volunteers before, during, and after volunteer events.

  • Curates volunteer recruitment and engagement materials in partnership with Marketing and Communications team.

  • Delivers public speaking remarks at volunteer events.

  • Aids in ensuring compliance with volunteer policies and procedures and alignment with industry best practices.

  • Documents all volunteer activity in donor database as part of moves management process and generates reports as needed.

  • Attends weekly Development Department team meetings, 1:1 check-in meetings with supervisor, and other Development team large-scale events such as the Lunch for LifeWorks.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years relevant experience working with volunteers, customer service, and/or community engagement or event management; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preferred CRM and Microsoft Office Suite experience.
