The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in the College of Graduate Studies at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. The 12-month position is supported by a competitive salary and benefit package, fully funded by the institution. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with at least two years of postdoctoral experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching of future healthcare professionals. The new faculty member will participate in team-taught courses for Osteopathic Medicine, Podiatric Medicine, Dental Medicine, Optometry, Biomedical Sciences, Physician Assistant, Nurse Anesthesia, and Pharmacy students in biochemistry and related topics that may include cell biology, human genetics/genomics, metabolism, molecular biology and nutrition. Candidates with expertise in nutritional biochemistry, exercise or obesity are especially encouraged to apply, but individuals with research interests in any areas of biochemistry will be considered. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain an independent research program with the potential for attracting extramural funding. About the Department: The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics is part of the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) and consists of eight full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who share the common goal of providing a robust foundation in both biochemistry teaching and research for our student populations. Departmental teaching is supported by administrative office staff, modern classroom and lecture hall facilities and a student testing center. The faculty is highly collegial with diverse research interests, including cell adhesion and tumor development, structural biology and epigenetics, signal transduction and fertilization, telomeres, amyloid beta peptides and Alzheimer’s disease, aging and cachexia, chronic stress and neuroscience, and bacterial biology of metals. Faculty research is complemented by a staff of four research technicians supported by the University.
