The AstraZeneca Newark Supply Site in Newark, DE, was established in 1971 and currently employs approximately 260 people. Over the course of these years, Newark has undergone many product portfolio changes since it first began as Stuart Pharmaceuticals through today as the designated AZ North America Packaging Center of Excellence and a Flexible Formulation site for the global supply of complex products. This position is primarily responsible for the accurate operation of the Site's packing operations and the facility-related control systems and instruments. Maintenance Technicians are required to provide technical support to the Packaging and Maintenance Groups as well as to project engineers and supervisors working on a wide variety of packaging and facility-related capital projects.
This is a 1st shift role, Monday-Friday . Automation Technicians collaborate to support a 24x5 operating model. Technicians would need to be available on-call as needed during other/off shifts and weekends whenever facility, production and/or equipment maintenance coverage is needed.
What you will do:
Troubleshoot and repair operational problems within the packaging and/or facility-related equipment or systems.
Define PLC input and output requirements for packaging and facility equipment and other control systems.
Write and edit PLC/HMI programs. Install and test these programs. Document all changes made to validated control systems as required by SOP's in SAP and MDT.
Review electrical drawings associated with new equipment procurement and assist engineering personnel with the development of project specifications for new equipment.
Support improvement initiatives for changeover reduction, root cause investigation, and asset performance.
Support the compliance needs of the site by completing, and assisting others with, any required change control documentation associated with safety, health, and environment or cGMP issues
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum three (3) years of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
Must be able to work or be on-call as needed during other/off shifts and weekends when facility, production and/or equipment maintenance coverage is needed
Preferred Qualifications:
State accredited Journeyman
Associates degree in a technical subject area, completion of a technical school program, or equivalent formal technical education
Demonstrated understanding and operational familiarity with software and PLC/HMI systems
Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical cGMP maintenance practices
Detailed familiarity with the analysis and repair of electrical/electronic control systems.
Working knowledge of pneumatic systems.
Field experience and demonstrated proficiency in any of the following subject matter areas: mechanical maintenance of production equipment, utility systems maintenance and repair, electrical maintenance, instrumentation and controls, and/or mechanical fabrication/machine shop.
Demonstrated understanding of in control system design and elementary programming is required.
