What you will do

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for is responsible for managing and motivating production personnel within the Oral Care Business Unit to deliver maximum quality and output in a highly automated operation and accountable to achieve production targets while maintaining costs and maintain the highest standards for safety.

2 nd shift 3pm-11pm/ or 3 rd shift 11pm-7am

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise production team to meet production goals related to the operation of high speed packaging lines and manufacturing platforms to support internal and external customer expectations for quality, timeliness and cost.

• Establishes personnel schedules based on business needs. Provides input to production flow and identifies potential manufacturing risks and challenges.

• Compiles and reports out on production metrics.

• Trains staff in policies and procedures including areas of safety and quality. All activities will be completed in a manner that protects the health and safety of all colleagues and in full compliance to all policies and procedures.

• Establishes a work environment that embraces change by providing the leadership needed to implement and deliver goals that achieve business and costumer & consumer's needs.

• Continuously assesses work and processes to ensure compliance to all required standards, policies, and procedures.

• Facilitate communication activities and acts as a liaison between hourly colleagues and other leaders at the site. Responsible to understand and ensure adherence to union collective bargaining agreement.

• Recommends changes to standard operational and working practices providing the leadership vital to develop and implement continuous improvements.

• Works with Business Unit Manager to develop and implement methods and processes that optimize the flow and use of material, machine and human resources.

• Supervise all hourly colleagues on the shift within the business unit ensuring performance standards are achieved and driving employee and equipment productivity, uptime and efficiency to achieve optimum results in the areas of quality, production, health and safety, cost of goods, etc.

• Provides feedback to operational budgets and have an understanding of financial drivers.

• Maintain appropriate levels of labor, scrap, data integrity, schedule attainment, quality, up time, run time, cycle time, and housekeeping.

• Recommend changes in working conditions and equipment to increase the efficiency of the business unit and staff.

• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities within the business unit.

• Responsible for complying to Johnson and Johnson's Code of Conduct and all applicable EHSS regulations, site SOPs and JSAs for all activities performed on site. Foster a safety culture by adhering to the "Life Saving Rules" and actively participating in the "Good Saves" program.

• Maintain time and production reports. Take ownership of process confirmations, assess gaps to standard, and develop action plants for improvement.

• Develop and deliver training program on safety, GMP, quality, compliance and productivity expectations, standards, and new tasks or procedures for team members.

• Report machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.

• Prepare periodic reports, complete special projects and assist supervisor.

• Build and review metrics and take all appropriate action to achieve goals.

• Work effectively with other department leaders to balance the overall plant goals; balancing time and resource constraints to prioritize & achieve goals.

• Lead execution of daily production schedule to assure efficient labor usage, minimize waste, and ensure quality and compliance standards are being achieved.

• Effectively communicate information with employees and leadership on the floor key in achieving performance in alignment with Consumer's policies, procedures, quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), as well as safety and environmental regulations.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Operations / Manufacturing / Packaging is required.

• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication in the English language is required.

• Basic to intermediate math (computational) ability is required.

• Strong analytical and technical writing skills are required.

• Excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication, listening, negotiating and problem solving / decision-making skills are required.

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience and/or certification(s) related to TPM, TPS, Lean, Six Sigma is preferred

• A minimum of two (2) years' experience in GMP environments is preferred.

• Prior Supervisory experience is preferred.

• Previous manufacturing and packaging experience is preferred.

• Basic to intermediate math (computational) ability is required.

• Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools is preferred.
