We are currently looking for a Machinist to join our organization in Birmingham, Alabama.



PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Machinist is responsible to operate machines and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the proper cleaning and preparation of castings as stated in the OMS/process sheet; efficiently inspect finished work.

Task and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate jib, overhead crane, manual mills and Grade B machines
  • Read and follow the production schedule
  • Able to work with little supervision
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing abilities related to job assigned.


Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred
  • Knowledge of G and M codes
  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blue prints, rulers and tape measures
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals


Working Location:

  • Birmingham, Alabama


Shift:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Monday to Thursday, 4:30pm - 3:00am
  • Friday to Sunday, from 6:00pm - 6:00am
  • Overtime may be required

Salary: $21.00
