POSITION SUMMARY

MELE Associates, Inc. is seeking to add a motivated Fitness Coordinator to our National Security and Intelligence team, supporting a key customer within the DOE. The Fitness Coordinator will provide health and wellness coaching, as well as oversee the usage of fitness equipment and inventory. This position is full-time.

The Fitness Coordinator will use their foundational knowledge of the health and fitness best practices to provide fitness assessments, individual tailored fitness program recommendations, as well as physical instruction such as exercise and strengthening techniques, injury prevention and treatment, back safety, nutrition, and more. The selected candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of personal fitness training as well as prior history working with law enforcement or military programs as a bonus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor the maintenance and general housekeeping of fitness facilities
  • Assist in inventory and preventative maintenance of fitness equipment, as well as identify the need for minor repairs or replacement.
  • Oversee the safe use of fitness equipment in the fitness facilities.
  • Support OST federal recruiting staff in the conduct of Physical Readiness Testing and/or alternative fitness testing for existing instructors, candidates, or applicants.
  • Provide initial certification and recurring training in law enforcement control tactics to FA candidates and staff as required.
  • Provide fitness assessments and individually tailored fitness program recommendations.
  • Provide physical fitness instruction to include injury prevention, nutrition and risk factor reduction.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in law enforcement control tactics/combatives.
  • Provide general health, fitness, and wellness counseling
  • Maintain a schedule of availability that is current and update as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to obtain Secret government security clearance or DOE "L"
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum mastery of three (3) of the required skills. These are, (1) law enforcement experience and/or military experience, (2) defensive tactics/combatives experience, (3) a minimum of three years' experience in Personal Fitness Training, and (4) a minimum of three years' experience in Sport coaching at the collegiate level or higher.
  • Must be required to achieve and maintain a multitude of fitness certifications within first six (6) months of hire.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Associates degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science
  • Completion of any of the following certifications: Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Training Program (FLETC), Law Enforcement Control Tactics (FLETC), Certification in First Aid, Certification in CPR, Certification in AED, BIT, and/or Controller Training.

Location: This is a full-time onsite position in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
