Overview

The Division of Pediatric Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Pediatric Neurologist with specialized expertise in pediatric neuromuscular diseases. The successful candidate will join a thriving academic medical center that is recognized for clinical excellence, research innovation, and educational leadership. This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of pediatric neuromuscular services in the region and to advance research in this critical area of pediatric health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical care for children with neuromuscular diseases, including but not limited to muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, and other inherited or acquired neuromuscular disorders.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, including collaboration with pulmonology, cardiology, genetics, orthopedics, and rehabilitation teams, to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, with a focus on neuromuscular disorders.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and clinical research, with opportunities for collaboration across departments and with OHSU’s research community.
  • Participate in outreach and community engagement initiatives to expand access to pediatric neuromuscular care in underserved regions.
  • Pursue funding opportunities for research in pediatric neuromuscular diseases.
  • Participate in divisional, departmental, and institutional service, including participation in clinical trials and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • M.D., D.O. or M.D.-Ph.D. degree(s) with board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Neurology.
  • Fellowship training or equivalent experience in neuromuscular medicine, with expertise in diagnosing and managing pediatric neuromuscular diseases.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and scholarly activity in the field of pediatric neuromuscular disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Dedication to teaching and mentoring trainees at various levels of medical education.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostics, including electromyography (EMG), muscle ultrasound, interpretation of muscle and nerve biopsies, and genetic testing for neuromuscular conditions.
  • Experience with or interest in clinical trials, translational research, or gene therapy for neuromuscular diseases.


Qualifications



  • Interest in or experience with clinical research in neuromuscular diseases is strongly preferred.
