Join our Central Sterile Processing and Supply (CSPS) team at MGH as an Inventory Specialist II. Reporting to the CSPS Customer Service Manager, you will leverage your procurement experience and supply management expertise to support the MGH Operating Room. This role is crucial for enhanced par level management and customer service of sterile supplies, encompassing procurement, receiving, breakdown, distribution, and stocking of specialty supplies.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Inventory Management
Manage storage locations: organize, maintain, and curate products.
Optimize space and function: review Profile Cart organization and par levels.
Collaborate with OR Nursing and Customer Service: adjust product par levels.
Maintain Profile Cart accuracy: ensure electronic records match physical inventory.
Customer Service
Forecast and communicate supply needs: work closely with clinical colleagues.
Coordinate with vendors and sister facilities: address time-sensitive sterile product needs.
Log new products and manage inventory: use Mobile Aspects for RFID tagging and inventory reports.
Support CSPS Quality Program: submit supply-related quality events.
Identify and confirm substitute products: collaborate with clinical colleagues.
Support OR cases: transport sterile instruments and supplies.
Fulfill priority inventory requests: retrieve and deliver items efficiently.
Procurement
Review and measure on-hand inventory: ensure accurate par levels.
Place requisitions in eBuy: handle outside orders if needed.
Update on product movement: communicate delays and delivery confirmations.
Verify shipment receipts: report discrepancies to leadership.
Receiving & Stocking
Breakdown specialty product orders: remove cardboard to maintain a clean environment.
Handle and distribute specialty supplies: maintain sterile product integrity.
Stock supplies: use FIFO procedure and check for expired products.
Manage overstock areas: restock depleted locations as needed.
Maintain tidy supply locations: clean storage bins and shelves periodically.
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in medical terminology, basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, and Smartsheet.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft and EPIC preferred.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Experience in healthcare inventory management and Operating Room environment (greater than 1 year).
Working Conditions
Extensive walking and standing.
Breaking down pallets and moving contents on rolling carts.
Exposure to the Operating Room environment.
Strict dress code: surgical scrubs required.
Frequently lift up to 35 lbs., stoop, bend, pull, and place/retrieve materials.
