Job Description:

The Metabolism Unit (MetU), a clinical research unit at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) who will participate in promoting and supporting nutrition-related research through the Nutrition Obesity Research Center at Harvard (NORCH). The NORCH serves a large base of nutrition and obesity investigators in the Boston area and beyond by providing services to investigators in the form of statistical support and coordinated Core services. The main goal is to promote, facilitate and enhance research relating to nutrition and health. The CRC will also participate in clinical research projects within MetU.



Principal NORCH duties and responsibilities:



• Work with the NORCH leadership team to manage and execute day-to-day operations, including keeping track of NORCH activities and priorities and sustaining existing NORCH initiatives


• Interface with multiple research groups from various departments within MGH and external academic collaborators, as well as sponsors, and other groups involved in the center


• Collate metrics regarding publications, grants, NORC-H citations and core use for the annual progress reports


• Assist in the operations of the Pilot & Feasibility Grant program, including interfacing with grantees to answer questions and exchange information


• Work with leadership to support the Diversity Scholars Initiative and mentorship initiatives


• Monitor and manage core usage, generate and report metrics


• Organize and develop the annual NORCH symposium including content of topic and speaker selection and planning and logistical elements.


• Schedule and develop agendas and meeting minutes and leading meetings/calls as needed


In addition to work on the NORCH, the CRC will have the opportunity to take on additional special projects at the MetU involving data analysis, literature review, and preparation of manuscripts for submission/publication.


This position is ideal for a diligent new graduate who is looking to gain significant clinical research experience before enrolling in graduate school. The MetU will support the Clinical Research Coordinator's growth and professional development through provision of opportunities to strengthen research and presentation skills, dedicated career mentorship, and graduate school advising.



Qualifications

Bachelor Degree Required


Desired qualifications include:


• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with members of the research team and the community


• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, and prioritize competing demands


• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills


• Initiative and motivation to work hard


• Thoughtful and creative problem-solving skills


• Experience with common computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, reference management software


A background in statistics/research is desirable but not required.
