The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in all aspects of accounting with specific focus on accounts payable and general cashier duties. The accounting clerk will also assists with the general ledger, balance sheet accounts and owners accounting when necessary.
Job Description
Key Job Functions
Participates in all accounting areas as needed.
Overall responsibility of Accounts Payable and General Cashier duties.
Prepare and process monthly and daily journal entries.
Review credit applications for future groups and social events and perform credit checks to ensure the least amount of risk for the Hotel.
Update all credit applications on an annual basis.
Ensure invoices are sent in a timely manner, audit invoices for accuracy and follow up on payment.
Assist in preparation of monthly reconciliations, i.e. prepaid expenses, guest ledger, accounts receivable, etc.
Handle and resolve guest and credit card disputes.
Oversee the balancing of credit card activity.
Review Accounts Receivable aging on an ongoing basis and recommend 'best course of action' to Financial Controller.
Counts cashiers' banks on a random basis monthly.
Prepares daily bank deposit and the Cash/over short report.
Compiles invoices for billing.
Verifies proper coding, check calculations, and authorization of invoices.
Matches invoices with corresponding purchase orders and with goods received sheets.
