Implement and monitor adherence of corporate safety programs and procedures at various project locations. Implement safety protocols and best practices to create safe work environments and ensure compliance with internal/external safety regulations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


  • Able to perform all essential Senior Safety Engineer responsibilities.

  • Serve as a key partner to project teams, clients, and subcontractors to maintain a safe project site and promote a culture of safety.

  • Ensure effective implementation of Safety programs, policies, and procedures across projects.

  • Implement site-specific safety plans that meet both internal standards and project specific contractual requirements.

  • Evaluate subcontractor/trade partners safety plans and programs.

  • Facilitate pre-job safety planning meetings to ensure teams prepare for potential hazards.

  • Review job hazard analysis (JHA's) and scopes of works; identify potential hazards and partner with teams to implement preventative action plans.

  • Conduct field verification and review work in place to identify safety issues. Partner with teams to develop and implement effective corrective action plan.

  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company safety programs and external regulatory requirements including OSHA.

  • Complete safety checklists and ensure teams implement a pre-task planning process.

  • Ensure protective equipment, safety materials, and supplies are available and utilized; address non-conformance with project teams/operations leadership.

  • Conduct incidents/accidents investigations, analyze bodily injuries, and property damage incidents; ensure accurate documentation is compiled and available for reporting.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of incidents/accidents to mitigate and prevent future risks.

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.

  • Compile and issue regular safety reports, summaries, and other necessary safety documentation.

  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and maintenance of safety documentations for assigned sites.

  • Lead Safety meetings and participate in project/field operations meetings.

  • Facilitate safety trainings to educate on safety programs, protocols, and best practices.

  • Facilitate complex trainings such as silica management, confine space, heat, and illness prevention.

  • Ensure project staff acquires and maintains necessary Safety certifications.

  • Implement safety program changes mandated by corporate, legal, or otherwise.

  • Attend conferences, trainings, and workshops to maintain knowledge and accreditations.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree or certification in EHS, Construction Management, or related field. (Or equivalent combination of education and work experience)

  • 5-7 years of construction and/or safety related experience, or equivalent combination of field and/or safety experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance (including local, state, and federal as well as OSHA regulation).

  • Ability to evaluate construction work activities with respect to safety and loss control.

  • Ability to recognize safety trends with respect to incidents/accidents.

  • Comprehends schedule and scope review to identify high risk activities.

  • Able to educate teams/employees on safety means and methods.

  • Experience with and technical knowledge of BIM 360 and construction management software. CMIC experience a plus.

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Teams)

  • Effective written and verbal English language communication skills; Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

  • Strong analytical skills, detailed oriented, and strong organization skills to navigate supporting multiple project sites.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster collaboration, and build strong working relationships.
