Job Summary

Develops and/or monitors the payroll functions performed by the Payroll staff. Responsible for coordinating activities between Payroll and other departments and field operations. Responsible for trouble shooting system problems and for testing system upgrades prior to installations. Works closely with Human Resources, Cost Accounting, and the IT department. Responsible for training Payroll staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Communicates closely with Human Resources to ensure proper setup and processing of unusual pay types, benefits, deductions and accruals.
2. Maintain Vertex Codes and AAls as required.
3. Maintain labor and burden reports
4. Responsible for filing monthly, quarterly and year end payroll tax reports.
5. Responsible for integrity of data in payroll maintained fields of employee owners within the systems.
6. Responsible for monthly Payroll ESU testing and implementation.
7. Responsible for posting weekly payrolls and troubleshoot posting errors.
8. Responsible for reviewing integrity issues, history corrections and adjusting journal entries as well as clean-up, maintenance, and updating of payroll Reports Now versions.
9. Responsible for the payroll departments correspondence to management and field operations and initiating and/or maintaining current written procedures describing the functions and requirements of this position as well as all \"How To\" and \"Quick Docs\" relative to the processing of payroll.
10. Stays current with payroll tax laws, open accounts as needed and informs upper management and employees of relevant changes and is responsible for system set-up of the W-2 program at year end.
11. Troubleshoots system problems relating to the Payroll application and its interfaces to/from other programs and reviews all ESU and system upgrades prior to installation to ascertain integrity of continued payroll operations.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. Capable of supervising four or more persons.
2. Excellent communication skills and proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.
3. Four year degree in accounting with minimum of five years' experience in Payroll and a minimum of three years supervisory experience.
4. Must be organized, detailed, systems oriented, tactful, a problem solver and decision maker.
5. Must have complete knowledge of Payroll system and how it interfaces with other accounting systems.

2. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedure.
3. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
4. Will interact with people and technology frequently during a shift/work day
5. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 501bs on an occasional basis.
6. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
7. Will use telephone, computer system, email, and other electronic devices on a frequent basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
