If you're looking to immerse yourself in a passionate team rooted in community, connection and camaraderie, then we're looking for YOU! #IAmMerz The HR Generalist provides support for all U.S. based Therapeutics and Shared Competence Center employees who are located in the corporate office and the field. This role administers the onboarding and exit processes in the HR System and ensures proper documents are shared with employees. This position assists the HR team with administrative and operational tasks including, but not limited to, backup for payroll, benefits, and Fleet, routing invoices for approval, directing and tracking contracts and agreements in the e-Contracts site, record-keeping, file maintenance and entry into the HR system. This role will interact cross-functionally across HR and for our colleagues in North America TX.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead onboarding


  • Assist with onboarding process ensuring all required steps are completed correctly. Enter new hire info in HR System. Send new hires initial welcome email with critical new hire information and instructions. Field questions from new hires and internal departments preparing for new hire's arrival. Conduct new hire onboarding.

2. Lead offboarding

  • Assist with exit process ensuring all required steps are completed correctly. Enter termination info in UKG and other required spreadsheets accurately. Send exiting employees appropriate separation letter and paperwork with critical transition information and instructions. Initiate Exiting Employee Access Termination Process. Field questions from exiting and former employees.

3. Recruitment Support

  • Assist the HRBP with all Recruitment activity, including but not limited to, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, supporting with audits.

4. Prepare deliverables for payroll

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of change reports as required by payroll. Assist payroll by tracking down any missing HR info in a timely manner.

5. Administer Bonus Programs

  • Upon receipt of approved Bonus (e.g., Employee Referral Bonus, Spot Bonus) Request Form, prepare Bonus Certificate and return to requesting leadership team member for signature and presentation to the recognized employee. Attach Request Form to employee's HR System Documents tab. Manage the profit share program.

6. Coordinate invoicing for HR & Communications team

  • Route invoices through Adobe Sign for approvals and payment. Add coding as needed.

7. Oversee contracts approval process for HR team

  • Enter, route, and track HR & Communications contracts and vendor agreements in e- Contracts. Follow up with appropriate stakeholders to inquire on status of contract or agreement weekly to ensure the contract or agreement is moving through the appropriate reviews in a timely manner. Provide weekly status updates on contracts and agreements and note which contracts or agreements have been fully executed.
    Track status of contracts or agreements when sent outside e-Contracts for signature.

8. Maintain employee records and files

  • Maintain employee records and personnel files that are housed on site in the corporate
    office (corporate office- based and field-based employees). Attach PDF copies of info to employee record in UKG as needed Pull employee files as requested.

9. Provide best-in-class customer service

  • Handle employee inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintain contact with various vendors and stakeholders as needed. Partner with internal and external stakeholders ensuring all actions support company values and norms.

10. Assist with all HR programs

  • Support people programs involving HR Operations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, Fleet, Employee engagement, learning & development, performance management, recognition, payroll, benefits, etc. This includes answering and responding (when able) to emails that show up in the HR / Benefits / Fleet email boxes.

11. Manage Awardco employee recognition platform

  • Enter bulk Awardco points to be awarded to employees. Provide regularly reports to Payroll, FP&A, and HR for necessary payroll deductions, budget balancing, and compliance with internal policies.

12. Manage Org Chart

  • Provide monthly updates to the Merz Therapeutics North America Org Chart to leadership and key stakeholders.

13. Manage Life Event employee gift program

  • Partner with managers to educate them, and to engage in manager self-serve for their employee's life events.

Job Related Qualifications/SkillsEducation

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field (preferred)
  • HR-related certification (preferred)

Professional experience


  • 3-5 years of administrative experience in professional office setting (required)
  • 2 years Human Resources experience (required)
  • 2 years Corporate Communications experience (preferred)

Knowledge, skills and abilities (required)

  • Knowledge of human resources programs
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations relevant to employment law
  • Go-getter who can own projects and initiatives with varying levels of instruction
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to partner with internal teams and external vendors
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to be a team player
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of methods

  • Knowledge of HRIS (UKG UltiPro preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (required)
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or knowledge of design tools (i.e. Canvas, PicMonkey) (preferred)
