We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Underwriting Assistant to join our RetailProperty Operations team at Everest. In this role, you will play a critical role in supporting the underwriting team in managing new and existing business across multiple lines, with a focus on property. You will report to the Operations Manager in Operations and work closely with the Property Underwriting team to help achieve portfolio targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day support to Property underwriters to help achieve portfolio targets, including summarizing slip terms and conditions, calculating premiums, and ensuring the accurate entry of submissions, quotes, risks, endorsements, and transactions into Everest Systems.
Perform data checks to ensure accurate entry and management of underwriting information, facilitating precise statistical and regulatory reporting.
Maintain and store all customer information and correspondence in the document repository to ensure a comprehensive and accurate audit trail of business activity.
Support the underwriting review process, ensuring that all relevant information is included and indexed for peer reviews, risk entry, and data accuracy checks within specified timeframes.
Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries.
Regularly reviews and adheres to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements.
Assist in processing catastrophe models and producing reports.
Offer administrative assistance to underwriters and the Operations team on tasks including credit control queries, data quality, and process improvement.
Collaborate with underwriters from other business lines when necessary to provide additional support.
Participates in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed.
Perform any other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Head of Operations and Team Leader.
Desired Skills & Experience:
At least two years of experience in an underwriting support role, preferably in Property underwriting.
Strong desk management, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong comfort level with developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, agents and co-workers by phone, email or in person.
Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple electronic systems.
The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
Self-starter that is energized by independent learning and research.
Review and provide feedback on quality review of other team members to management based on required checklist.
