Job Description:

The Head Start Cultural Navigator/Classroom Aide supports teachers and classroom assistants in conducting instructional activities and creating a positive, engaging learning environment in both the classroom and playground. Additionally, provides cultural and language interpretation for students and families.(Full position description will be shared with applicants selected for in-person interviews; to request full description, call 507-316-0610.)

This position will be 32 hours per week (Monday through Thursday) and is based in Faribault. Starting pay for this position is $18.50 an hour depending on qualifications and experience.

This position is for the 2024-2025 school year and is subject to layoff between school years.

Job offers are contingent on a reference check and a criminal background check and fingerprinting through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS).

Qualifications:
Demonstrated compassion, concern and respect for children and parents. Able to work occasional evening hours for home visits and work-related events. Current, valid drivers license in good standing and personal automobile insurance as defined by agency insurance company, preferred unless explicitly approved otherwise by supervisor. Ability to pass required background study, as defined by position. High school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual (spoken/written) in English/Somali. Lived experience as applicable to the position preferred.Basic computer skills. Able to obtain Family Service Credential Certificate within 18 months of hire date (Agency will provide training during first year of employment). Able to obtain certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire date.Able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, sit on floor or small chairs, climb, kneel, balance, push/pull, perform fine manipulation with hands and move quickly in the event of an emergency
