The Contracts Lead Analyst will report to the Director of the Contract Unit and is responsible for ensuring contract compliance for new development and in-force state-filed documents while supporting internal partners and coordinating contract development with cross functional project leads. This includes drafting contract, riders, endorsements, amendments and other state regulated forms, defining requirements and providing oversite and quality checks of contract specialists work.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:


  • Draft complex, legally defendable contracts, amendments, endorsements, riders, certificates, agreements and/or bank trust document as necessary.


  • Draft documents to support changes for in-force business which includes the development of non-standard language.


  • Define system requirements for contract composition and issuing rules.


  • Perform regulatory monitoring and identifies regulation changes that impact contract language for new and inforce products


  • Conduct contract research on inforce block of contracts as needed and provides opinions on contract interpretation and filing strategy used. Coordinates with Regulatory Team to implement changes


  • Prepare and submits documents to state insurance departments and the Interstate Compact for approval.


  • Maintain relationships with state regulators.


  • Coordinate with internal partners to develop technical responses to state department inquiries and may review Contract Specialist’s response prior to submission.


  • Maintain precise documentation of filing status, state variations, testing status and other documentation as required. Perform a review function and provides technical guidance for documents prepared by contract specialists.


  • Workflow coordination, responding to regulator questions, training new associates and special projects.


  • Support an internal mailbox and responds to inquiries within a defined service level of 24hrs.


  • Perform special projects as assigned to support internal partners which may include special research projects, consolidating contract language, access and/or review competitor filings.


  • Coordinate comprehensive unit, UAT and post issue validation testing of contract packages.


What you’ll need:


  • 4-7 years’ relevant experience in drafting and the state filing of Annuities or Variable Life Insurance required


  • Product and Compliance knowledge of the annuity product line of business


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


  • Strong communication and presentation skills


  • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to partner with a wide variety of other functions and levels, including Sales, Service, IT, Control and Actuarial functions.


  • Strength of convictions and ability to influence decisions and champion product administrative or operational changes


  • Solution oriented with strong problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to leverage resource materials to support decisions


  • Must have solid organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute plans


  • Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar deliverables and prioritize. Ability to work independently, as part of a team or lead a team


  • Excellent technical financial services product knowledge


  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple levels within the internal organization

The salary range for this role is from $99,300.00 to $147,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
