Job Description:

We are hiring for a Graduate Bridge Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis in the Newark, DE area.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the structural analysis and/or design of Bridges (Highway & Railroad), Culverts, Retaining Walls, and Overhead Sign Structures on a variety of projects (bridge replacement/rehabilitation, highway improvement, etc.); this includes multi-disciplinary projects for DelDOT and other agencies/bridge owners throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region!
  • Perform NBIS Bridge inspections in DE as well as the surrounding states (with occasional opportunities for domestic travel).
  • Produce high-quality technical writing for use in bridge inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.


Basic Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (e.g.: Structural Engineering, etc.).




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering focus.
  • FE / EIT.
  • Successful completion of FHWA-NHI-13005 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) course.
  • Proven knowledge of Civil Engineering principles such as structural analysis, steel/concrete design, basic hydrology/hydraulics, and basic geotechnical/foundation design.
  • Bridge engineering experience with NCDOT, DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, and/or PennDOT is a plus!
  • Bridge inspection experience, especially with technical writing for reports, is a plus!
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); exposure to MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or plan production tools is a plus!
  • Experience with structural analysis programs (e.g.: STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare, BrR, BRASS, SAP/CSI, etc.) is a plus!
  • Exposure to modeling tools, especially BrIM or BIM work processes, is a plus!
  • Proficiency on basic office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to collaborate with our team while demonstrating a self-motivated demeanor and effective multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven ability to learn and apply new skills while simultaneously seeking / seizing opportunities to improve work products.
  • Willingness to interact in the Engineering community at-large via membership in relevant professional societies.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
