Performs highly skilled maintenance related duties in the in an area of specialty at the RDU Airport facilities. Additionally, the Senior Maintenance Mechanic will assist with weather related activities such as snow removal and or hurricane preparedness to maintain a 24/7 operation. The position is scheduled for 3rd shift which is from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains and repairs 3 phase; 5000 volt, 480/277 volt and 208/120 volt electrical systems
Evaluate, maintain, and repair computer-controlled airfield lighting system, constant current regulators, navigational aids, and equipment on the airfield.
Checks operation of and performs preventative maintenance and repairs for emergency power generators, automatic transfer switches, mobile generator sets, electrical vaults, motorized gates, sluice gates, and electric deer fence
Repair and maintenance of traffic signals, lighting systems on the street, parking lots and the parking deck using aerial lifts, bucket trucks, ladders, and scaffolding
Checks and repairs sewer lift stations and irrigation pump station including motors, pumps, control circuitry, alarm circuitry, and equipment as needed
Assists with snow removal efforts and other inclement weather-related needs.
Maintains and repairs RWIS (Roadway/Runway Weather Information System) and equipment
Working an on-call shift determined by co-worker rotation for response to emergency situations.
Performs related work in support of grounds keeping and maintenance functions (grass cutting, painting, fence repair, masonry, cleaning)
Manage projects and oversee personnel when requested.
Communicate to supervisor observations and issues concerning maintenance needs.
Coordinate and inspect contract work on Airfield and Landside projects.
Performs related work as required.

Maximum - Based on qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Associate degree or Apprentice Program
Experience:

5 years of experience in directly related trade.
Preferred:
7 years of experience in directly related trade.
Licenses or Certifications:

Valid NC Driver’s License and ability to obtain NC CDL License within 6 months of start date.
Preferred:
NC Registered Electrical License
