The Associate Director of Admissions plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in achieving the objectives outlined in SIUE's Strategic Enrollment Plan. This position emphasizes collaboration in the development and organization of diverse recruitment strategies aimed at enhancing enrollment of first-year and transfer students.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions to align office functions with the goals of the Strategic Enrollment Plan. This includes conducting research on undergraduate recruitment best practices and assessing their applicability and effectiveness at SIUE.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with university leadership, campus partners, office staff, and external stakeholders to create a supportive environment for recruitment initiatives.
Staff Management: Oversee assigned admissions staff, including Admission Coordinators, Graduate Assistants, and Undergraduate Student Employees. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating team members.
Office Operations: Collaborate with the Undergraduate Admissions Leadership team to manage daily office functions, ensuring high standards of service. This includes participation in on-campus visit programs and the establishment of a customer-service-oriented approach for responding to inquiries via various communication channels.
Professional Development: Partner with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions to coordinate ongoing professional development opportunities for staff, focusing on role responsibilities, trends in higher education admissions, and fostering a positive team culture.
Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned, aligning with departmental goals and leveraging the strengths and interests of the new candidate.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Four years of demonstrated experience working in higher education admissions, student programming, or other related areas
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education or related field
Five or more years of demonstrated experience working in higher education admissions
Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or managing a team
