Job Description:

Work type: Non-Tenure Line (Research), University Tenure Line

Location: Stanford University

Categories: School of Medicine

The Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University seeks qualified candidates to fill two positions to further expand our translational research program and join the Department of Surgery/Division of General Surgery as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Non-Tenure Line (Research) or University Tenure Line. We are particularly interested in candidates who have established research focused on intraoperative molecular imaging, immuno-oncology/immunotherapy or more broadly translational cancer biology, sepsis and inflammation, and stem cell and regenerative medicine.

  • The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.

  • The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should have a record or interest in cross-disciplinary collaborative translational research, have completed postdoctoral training with a PhD, MD PhD, or MD degree, and possess a substantial record of scholarly activity with current extramural funding or high likelihood of securing extramural funding.

We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate research distinction. The strongest candidates will be scientists or clinician-scientists who demonstrate a track record of, or commitment to, a career incorporating scholarly activity. Evidence of success or potential for success with external peer review and funding is strongly desired.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
