Job Title:MCDB Program AssistantDepartment:Graduate School | Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology

The Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) Program (mcdb.osu.edu) is an interdisciplinary doctoral training program in the Graduate School. We are a vibrant student-centered program of about 100 graduate students and 200 mentoring faculty in multiple departments and colleges across the campus of OSU and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Our mission is to train students to be research scientists equipped with the intellectual, professional, and scientific skills to compete successfully in the job market and to assume leadership positions in research, education, and related fields.



The MCDB Program Assistant has a vital role in supporting the activities of the program. The Program Assistant will report to the Program Manager and provide administrative assistance to the Program Manager, Directors, faculty and students. We seek a detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills, who takes pride in their work and is excited about the opportunity to have a positive impact on the training environment of a diverse body of PhD students.



The Program Assistant assists with admission processes for prospective students in each program; assists in the coordination of program events including recruitment and orientation; assists in tracking student information and milestones; assists in collecting and formatting program data and supporting materials for reports, fellowships, and training grant submissions; tracks purchasing requisitions, travel requests and claims for travel reimbursement; performs administrative tasks such as data entry into spreadsheets, preparing and archiving documents and reports, website updates, collaborating on newsletters; sends routine program correspondence; tracks attendance at seminars and program events; other duties as assigned by the Program Managers.




Education/Experience


Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Microsoft Office Suite experience; demonstrated skills in written and oral communications, data collection and entry; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member, precision and accuracy, proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.



Desired: Experience working in higher education; experience with university and graduate student policies/procedures, experience working with faculty and students, experience in data tracking, project management, and event planning.


Additional Information:

Proposed hourly pay range is $19.09-$25.10/hr.
