Job Objective:


The Manager of International Transportation is a first-level manager that leads an assigned team of logistics professionals by using established business and transportation knowledge and understanding as well as providing direction to the team according to established policies to develop team members and provide solutions to reach company goals and objectives. This role will coordinate with cross-functional teams, and work closely with external partners including freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other service providers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of products. This is a key role in the operational execution of all inbound and outbound shipments. It requires a strong background in global logistics, compliance, and supply chain management, with the ability to drive process improvements. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of ocean freight logistics and regulations.



Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:




  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the international transportation management process and implementing sound business practices and principles which match the company's vision.
  • Oversee day-to-day over work schedules and plans.
  • Plan, direct, and implement cargo scheduling, allocation, dispatching, maintenance, and communication functions in accordance with established policies and objectives to ensure the economical utilization of vendors.
  • Direct daily operation of the communication system, review procedures, provide guidance to resolve technical problems, analyze costs, and recommend cost control measures.
  • Interface with supporting operations to ensure best practices are being shared and used as it relates to transportation.
  • Responsible for hiring, performance reviews, and corrective action for direct reports.
  • Oversees daily communication with vendors and internal stakeholders for status updates, documentation needs, service changes or to report and resolve variances.
  • Analyze shipment data to ensure accuracy of details being provided to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the transportation director to build, manage, and perform against the freight budget.
  • Coordinate with import/export compliance manager on a regular basis to ensure full compliance on import/export transactions.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency, reduce cost, enhance customer satisfaction and quality of service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Experience and Education:




  • 6-8 years' relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred and / or equivalent international transportation experience
  • 1-3 years of management experience.

  • *** Strong knowledge of the international transportation industry and relevant legal compliance.
