The Phoenix Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Responsible to develop and facilitate the Centers alcohol, drug and tobacco prevention program. Educates and counsels students to reduce and prevent drug-related separations from the program. Develops individualized case management plans to enhance student retention and success. Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information and compliance with all HIPAA laws.

The Phoenix Job Corps Center is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor, with expertise in Treatment, Education, and Prevention (TEAP), to join our team. As a counselor, you will guide our students toward a healthier, substance-free life.



As a counselor specialized in treating substance abuse (TEAP), you will be instrumental in promoting the recovery and wellness of our students. Your role will involve offering counseling, support, and education to help individuals overcome substance abuse. Responsibilities:


  • Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's unique needs and circumstances.

  • Group Therapy: Facilitate group therapy sessions to create a supportive community where students can share experiences, gain insights, and learn valuable coping skills.

  • Educational Programs: Develop and deliver substance abuse prevention and education programs to increase awareness and promote a culture of sobriety within the center.

  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, working collaboratively with other staff members and external resources as needed.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with medical professionals, mental health specialists, and other relevant staff to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to student care.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and progress, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications




  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in drug/alcohol counseling or related field required.
  • Valid, active, unrestricted in-state License or Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling/Prevention required.
  • Regional approval required.
  • Licensed or certified Substance Abuse Counselor (LADC, CADC, or equivalent).
  • Experience in substance abuse counseling and treatment planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse treatment.
