The purpose of the CNC Programmer is to program, setup and tool CNC and manual equipment used in the manufacturing of hydraulic and other components. GOAL: In line with our corporate mission statement, a CNC Programmer must facilitate a work environment that enforces safe work practices while delivering unparalleled customer satisfaction.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming CNC equipment with Haas, Mazatrol, Fanuc, Siemens, Prototrak controllers using G, M and conversational programming languages
Design and setup fixturing for operators and other machinists
Select and set optimal tooling for parts being ran
Kit tooling and fixturing in designated locations for common part numbers
Mentor and train new machine operators with the intent of developing them into future machinists
Explore additional programming, setup and work holding technology (i.e. Mastercam, Renisha)
GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Production Control and Manufacturing Manager to ensure on-time delivery goals are achieved
Work with Corporate and branch level ISO and Reliability Teams to ensure we deliver unmatched quality and customer support
Expected to provide leadership, direction, and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
Provide manufacturing-related feedback to sales and other members of the operations team
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibilities required of the job
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, trade shows, reading relevant trade publications, and professional networking
MACHINE TOOL CAPITAL INVESTMENTS:
Participate in annual and long-term planning activities as it relates to BSC manufacturing and Machinery
Provide input on CapEx machine purchases. Participate in specing out machinery and machine options used in manufacturing
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Analyze manufacturing processes to increase labor efficiency (i.e. improve setup and cycle times)
Collaborate with tooling and machine manufacturers to improve tooling and machinery
Provide operational/technical expertise, as necessary, to achieve solutions to machining problems
Stay up to date on manufacturing and machine technology including CNC programming & CAD/CAM industry innovations
Assist in implementation, when applicable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong leadership skills
Mechanical understanding and knowledge
Manufacturing experience
CAD/CAM knowledge
Understanding of manual and CNC machining principles
Basic understanding of Engineering and Metallurgical principles
G&M code/programming knowledge
Basic understanding of OSHA regulations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proper email etiquette
Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Strong project management skills
Ability to start and complete a project with minimum supervision
Ability to adapt to changing routines
Willing and able to work beyond scheduled hours as the need arises
Must demonstrate accuracy in working with detail
Critical thinking
Problem solving
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED
Five years programing and CNC machining
Background in lean manufacturing, including Kaizen and other continuous improvement
Experience working with or around lifting, rigging, industrial or heavy equipment
