WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Associate Director, Team Management supports the execution of internal and external-facing projects and initiatives of various size and scope for the Storytelling & Content team within TNC's Marketing & Communications (MAC) division. They manage a small team of project managers, coordinators, and digital asset managers who work to establish project goals and success factors, develop project plans, processes, standards, budgets, and schedules with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members. They lead their team to successfully achieve goals in the most value-adhering, cost-effective, and time-saving manner possible. They support their team as they monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, communicate project status information to all stakeholders, perform risk management, issue resolution and conflict management, and control project scope and quality. The Associate Director leads cross-organizational, cross- functional project teams using project management methodologies and processes, and ensures all standards are met.

They will develop a comprehensive understanding of the full scope of the work of the Storytelling team, and will, in partnership with team leadership, actively identify high-priority projects and successes to be shared with MAC Division leadership and other high-level internal leadership and stakeholders. They will be responsible for creating reports or presentations regarding the status or outcomes of key projects and initiatives.

The Associate Director will oversee team operations, including contract and invoice management, budgeting and budget management, some recruitment and onboarding, quarterly reporting, logistics and content for team calls and retreats, and other operational needs, ensuring that team commitments, TNC policies and procedures, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance. They will serve as a resource to colleagues and leadership through knowledge of finance and HR-related operational policies and procedures. They will also coordinate team culture and engagement opportunities and experiences.

The Associate Director works with all members of the Storytelling team and across the MAC Division, has stellar people and communication skills to successfully communicate and build relationships, and understands and adheres to TNC's core values. They strive for a thorough understanding of all subteams, roles, and projects across the full Storytelling Team. Success in the role is rooted in understanding how all seven Storytelling subteams work together, while striving for continuous improvement in how the team collaborates, gets its work done, and helps Storytelling fulfill its role within TNC.



WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Are you a highly organized team player who is big on detail and capable of proactively managing multiple projects and tasks? Do you have a passion for operating at the nexus of a team's operational, administrative, cultural and strategic initiatives to help ensure success?

We're looking for an Associate Director, Team Management to provide substantive and operational support for the Storytelling & Content team's priorities to ensure the high-functioning performance of the team. They provide management of Storytelling team initiatives and strategies, support team communications across seven subteams, and lead operational, project management, process, and administrative needs for the team. They also directly manage Storytelling's Operations team and coach and mentor their direct reports in their respective roles supporting the Storytelling team. In adherence with TNC's values, they focus on "how" the work gets done in addition to the actual outcomes.

The Associate Director, Team Management:

* Builds relationships across Storytelling, MAC and all of TNC by using their strong people and communication skills and proven track record of developing and maintaining authentic and honest working relationships with colleagues across all levels of an organization.
* Understands the full scope of the Storytelling Team's project process and operations and improves both when necessary. Leads change management when necessary
* Supervises a team of project managers, coordinators, and digital asset managers. Has experience with coaching a team, not just supervising. Leads with empathy, kindness and enthusiasm; drives for success and achievement in each direct report's unique role on the team.
* Develops and maintains comprehensive understanding and tracking of the priorities and work of the full Storytelling team; identifies and leads the development of status updates and final reports to be shared regularly with division and organizational leadership and stakeholders and works closely with the team Director on identifying and executing top priorities in support of successful team performance.
* Project manages select high-profile projects, with multiple stakeholders.
* Collaborates effectively with internal groups and outside consultants, supervises processes and maintains integrity of organizational standards.
* Leads annual budgeting process in partnership with team Director and maintains ongoing budget tracking and management to inform decision-making and resource allocation in alignment with the finance team.
* Oversees management of contracts across the Storytelling team, ensuring that contracts and invoice payments are delivered in a timely manner and in compliance with all SOPs.
* Supports team leadership to establish and track the strategic priorities, goals, success factors and KPIs.
* Collaborates with team to identify and coordinate creative ways to build a team-spirited culture of engaged employees, across a geographically diverse remote team.
* Acts independently and in supervisor's stead, as needed; exercises independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
* Demonstrates sensitivity in handling confidential information.
* Helps to build culture and strategy for the Storytelling Team.
* Travels occasionally for work.
* Is available to work long and/or flexible hours as needed during peak workload periods, and/or to accommodate meeting with global colleagues.



WHAT YOU'LL BRING

* Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 9 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* 3-4 years experience managing staff and teams.
* Experience developing marketing plans and measuring results.
* Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
* Experience leading complex project and program/account management including financial responsibilities, and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.

* Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred
* Experience coaching a team towards their individual success
* Results-driven, motivated self-starter capable of working both independently and collaboratively
* Strong organizational skills, time management, accuracy and attention to detail

* Experience in project management, preferably experience working as a project lead
* Ability to lead and manage project teams of peers
* Ability to work effectively across multiple complex, strategic projects simultaneously
* Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
* Discretion and excellent judgement

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $94,010-141,015 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
