Job Description:
Under limited supervision, evaluates livestock waste control structures, nutrient management plans, and discharge structures. Ensures livestock facilities are in compliance under state standards and the Clean Water Act. Reviews wastewater and drinking water structures to ensure they meet engineering standards.
Engineer
Under limited supervision, permit applications, determine compliance with applicable regulations, review livestock waste control structures for compliance with standards and regulations. Under limited supervision, review wastewater treatment facilities and/or drinking water facilities as needed for compliance with standards and regulations.
Work with applicants to obtain appropriate quality and quantity of information needed to prepare livestock waste control recommendations.
Review completions documents and inspections accuracy, consistency and content as necessary and approve structures to operate.
Confer with and advise the regulated community on technical requirements in the area of livestock waste or wastewater control. Give presentations and provide testimony at public hearings in areas of responsibility.
Assist in regulatory planning and development of the permit program.

Reviews plans and specifications for livestock waste control facilities (LWCFs). Reviews applicable portions of nutrient management plans (NMPs) for engineering aspects. Review plans and specifications for wastewater treatment or drinking water facilities.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule maybe allowed with management approval.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment.
Other Requirements:
Submit a resume or list on the application specific detailed experience relevant to the position.
Submit a current list of at least professional references (previous employers) with valid telephone numbers.
A valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent transportation.
Ability to occasionally travel overnight.
Ability to lift 20 pounds.
Ability to climb, bend, and stoop.
Ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes.
Ability to walk on muddy, icy, uneven terrain.
Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Preference:
Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, or agricultural engineering
Experience in environmental-related engineering work.
