The Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a Co-op Student who is looking for experience and exposure to the business administration side of research. Never before has mental healthcare research been in such high demand, and this trend is expected to continue for many years creating an increased need for business analysis and development. We are hoping to find a candidate interested in entering the healthcare field after college as either a business administrator, an accountant, a financial analyst, or other related field in either research or healthcare operations.
Reporting to the Research Administrator (RA), the incumbent will provide administrative support to research administration team within the Department of Psychiatry. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The candidate should also possess exceptional attention to detail, and exercise discretion in managing financial matters. This person will work closely with grant administrators (GAs) and faculty researchers. This position will be hybrid on-site and remote.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Assist RA/GAs with responding to general research administration questions via the department research email address
Assist RA with sending emails to the Psychiatry research distribution list
Maintain grant administration files and systems in share drive to ensure easy retrieval of documents and resources
Organize information about Psychiatry research awards for residents and fellows
Assist RA with updating Psychiatry department researcher information across institutional websites
Assist manager with expanding Psychiatry research resources
Attend daily department research administration meetings
Attend regular hospital and health system research administration meetings and trainings
Send financial reports to researchers after the monthly close
Read grant funding opportunities and requests for proposals to provide overview of requirements to researchers
Manage the grant proposal submission form and work with grant administrators to update the grant proposal project management schedule
Shadow grant administrators at meetings with researchers and assist with projects as requested
Performs other related duties and tasks as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum one-year of college education in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, or related field OR one year of related co-op experience
High school Diploma
Compliance with all MGB Conditions of employment

Proficient Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills are strongly preferred
