Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the strategic vision and business plan for the OCIO business.
Lead the OCIO team in achieving business objectives, growth targets, and service excellence.
Collaborate with the Global Chief Investment Officer and other senior leaders to align OCIO strategies with the overall organizational goals.
Client Retention & Growth
Oversee client relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
Work closely with clients to understand their needs, provide solutions, and deliver on service commitments.
Partner closely with sales and marketing leaders to develop and implement business development strategies for the priority OCIO investor segments
Ensure effective communication and reporting to clients regarding their portfolios and performance.
Increase awareness of our OCIO business - engage regularly through media, social media, industry events/conferences, etc.
Operational Oversight
Manage the operational aspects of the OCIO business including compliance, risk management, and technology integration.
Ensure the efficient and effective operation of all OCIO processes and workflows.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing OCIO team.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the team.
Provide ongoing professional development opportunities and support for team members.
Investment Performance
Work with Client Investment Officers in defining investment guidelines with clients to design investment management agreements.
In close partnership with the CIO of Asset Allocation & OCIO, this role will build leading asset allocation solutions to drive innovation and investment performance for client portfolios.
Leveraging CIO of Asset Allocation & OCIO, attend investment oversight sessions to make sure Client Investment Officers meet expectations of investment management agreements.
Collaboration Across Northern Trust
In addition to the close partnership with the CIO of Asset Allocation & OCIO, this role will work closely with the various asset class CIO's to drive innovation that is needed for OCIO clients and ensure seamless integration of investment strategies and client solutions.
Coordinate with various sales, operations, marketing, compliance and other critical functions to grow and retain the OCIO business.
Connect and collaborate with the various divisions outside of Asset Management to find opportunities to increase the value of our OCIO offering by leveraging the full breadth of innovation and leading services Northern Trust offers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, CFA, etc.) preferred.
Extensive experience (15+ years) in the investment management industry, with a focus on OCIO services or similar roles.
Proven track record of strategic leadership and business development in a financial services environment.
Critical thinker with superior problem solving abilities who is able to navigate large organizations and organize resources to effectively prioritize issues and respond to clients and senior management.
Proven experience of attracting, developing and inspiring high performing talent.
Strong understanding of investment management principles, financial markets, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent client relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-level client relationships.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
