Summary

The Director of Internal Auditing leads the Internal Audit function and ensures efficient systems of control and compliance in all facets of ABARTA, Inc.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement the strategic and annual audit work plans for Internal Audit function to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls

  • Review and assess the organizations risk management process, and identify areas of potential financial and operational risk

  • Oversee the execution of performance, compliance, operational and financial audits in accordance with acceptable standards, including hands-on participation in such audits

  • Monitor the implementation of recommendations made in audit reports

  • Identify, engage and manage third party subject matter experts when specific skills/knowledge is required (environmental, cyber, etc)

  • Develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and financial reporting standards, leading successful implementation work streams when needed

  • Work closely with external auditors to facilitate audits and the preparation of the annual financial statements, including statement compilation and footnote disclosures

  • Responsible for auditing non-financial subjects, such as business practices, environmental matters, and regulatory compliance

  • Act as a resource for the line units, providing analytical, financial, and operational support/projects when needed

  • Lead, mentor and develop the internal audit team, including developing succession possibilities within both the department and the organization


Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters degree preferred
Full professional accounting qualification, CPA preferred
JOB EXPERIENCE

Minimum of ten years of auditing experience of which at least 4 must have been at managerial level
This individual will have performed audits over a range of subjects, including basic control audits, financial statements, and operational audits
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Proven work experience as a Director of Internal Audit or similar role
Effective oral, written and graphic presentation communication skills
Results orientated with strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
Comfortable with leadership role and being part of a team when selected
Proficient with Windows Office Suite, including advanced Excel capabilities
Experience with data models and manipulation (e.g.Snowflake), business intelligence tools (e.g. PowerBI) in a large ERP environment (e.g. SAP)
Interpersonal skills must be advanced, as the individual will be interacting with all levels of staff and management, and must be able to accomplish objectives working with the business units
Mental agility to function in a broad range of non-related industries
Overnight travel is required, and can vary in duration and location (approximately 40% of work time)
