BRIDGE PRACTICE

DESCRIPTION

The Bridge Engineer will join the New England Bridge Team in performing design, analysis, and inspection of bridge structures in Massachusetts and throughout New England. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Structural Engineering Degree. This position offers a dynamic schedule with a mix of on-site field work and office/work-from-home. Under the guidance of Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Duties will consist of the following:


  • Assists with design and analysis, plan production, reports, and other supporting documentation associated with bridge projects.
  • Assists with gathering background information related to project site which includes reviewing as-built plans and inspection reports.
  • Assists inspection Team Leaders during field inspections to determine the structural condition of bridges and other structures.
  • Assists with the preparation of CAD drawings needed for bridge and highway projects.
  • Assists with quantities and project cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with design technicians to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Assists with preparations for client and project meetings.
  • Occasionally visits project sites and reports findings to Engineers and/or Project Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's Degree is a plus.
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience. Outstanding entry level candidates are encouraged to apply to this position.
  • EIT certification preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months. PE License or the ability to obtain within 6 months is a plus.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn various software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MIDAS, and LARSA.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Ability to efficiently work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize project assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills are essential to the long-term success in this role.
  • Certification in the 2-week FHWA/NHI bridge inspection class is preferred.
  • Experience as an Assistant Team Leader is preferred.
  • Able to work in challenging environments, including working from heights, in enclosed environments, and working around traffic.
  • Safety conscious and will be responsible for their personal safety and the safety of fellow team members.
  • Ability to use hand tools, ladders, tape-measures, and other equipment necessary for the proper evaluation of bridges.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate for the purpose of driving and operating bucket trucks and company vehicles.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $71,846 to $95,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
