The Laboratory Technician I will provide technical and administrative support to the Fitness for Duty (FFD) program during our client's station outages. This role involves the collection of breath and urine specimens and maintaining documentation in compliance with 10 CFR Part 26, as well as Federal and State regulatory guidelines mandated by NRC, OSHA, HHS, and WAC.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, process, document, and handle urine and breath specimens.
Analyze urine samples following established procedures.
Perform breath sample analysis and data interpretation.
Maintain and troubleshoot FFD equipment.
Support the operation, performance, and accuracy checks of testing equipment per manufacturer specifications.
Maintain required certifications for urine and breath alcohol testing under 10 CFR Part 26.
Ensure confidentiality of all FFD processes and documentation.
Manage FFD collection and testing facility supplies, equipment, and records.

Effective communication and human relations skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in personal computer hardware, software, and various applications.
Ability to work under critical deadlines and stressful conditions.
Must pass background checks as required under 10 CFR Part 26.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be trainable in all aspects of specimen collection and processing for drugs and alcohol per 10 CFR Part 26 and Fitness for Duty Instructions.
Proficiency in basic computer software packages, including MS Office; knowledge of advanced software is a plus.
