ECS is seeking an Oracle DBA (Senior) to work in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
Job Description:
ECS is seeking a qualified Oracle DBA (Senior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy.
This position will work as part of a large team providing infrastructure and operations support leveraging emerging industry best practices. The Senior DBA is able to communicate with management, technicians, and end-users to evaluate need prior to development of an automated solution. The DBA designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment and conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data and advises users on access to various client/server databases. The Senior Database Administrator applies knowledge and experience with Oracle database technologies, development methodologies, back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL) and performs database programming to include supporting systems design.
Responsibilities:
Determining the cause of problems both in terms of functionality and performance, to include providing after action reports with root cause analysis.
Identifying corrective actions for database issues.
Coordinating database solution implementation.
Providing end-to-end support for build and deployment activities.
Conducting data migrations across the various environments.
Providing support for Configuration, Change, and Release Management (CCRM) activities.
Provide on-call problem resolution and support.
Performance tuning of database instances across various applications.
Creating database schemas and associated configurations.
Creating scripts to support DB creation and related activities.
Generating and maintaining scripts to automate common operations & maintenance tasks.
Providing end-to-end support for production and alternate production deployment activities.
Troubleshooting database related issues across environments.
The ideal candidate has the ability to work with very large Oracle databases ranging up to 150TB+ in size and to cope with expected stress. The ability to communicate in an amiable fashion with developers and managers alike. Must have a passion for achieving successful outcomes for every project and task.
Required Skills:
Master's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of experience working on ORACLE databases performing modeling and administration
OR
Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND six years of experience working on ORACLE databases performing modeling and administration
OR
Ten years of experience working on ORACLE databases performing modeling and administration
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract
Must be a US Citizen
Must currently live in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate
Desired Skills:
Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers
Project Management Professional certification
Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature
Demonstrates specialized experience handling large amounts of data communicated and shared across numerous entities.
Demonstrates experience coordinating among individuals and groups in a complex, time-sensitive environment.
Demonstrates experience and knowledge of database application development and experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle DataGuard.
