Description

We are currently seeking a Superintendent to join our Wagman Construction, Inc. team. The position will support projects in South Central Pennsylvania. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in the construction industry.

Wagman is a multi-faceted construction firm with operations in heavy civil, general construction and geotechnical construction services. Founded in 1902, Wagman is a fourth generation, family-owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia. As a full-service general contractor, Wagman Construction facilitates growth and development in senior living, healthcare, higher education, urban, institutional, and industrial markets in central Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years experience in vertical construction
  • Ability to manage people and lead teams
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks and remain organized
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Strong understanding of our business and the industry
  • Ability to multitask with an attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decisions-making skills

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, manages, and executes assigned projects.
  • Performs each project successfully, including project scheduling and controlling direct job material and labor expenses.
  • Ensures that assigned projects are executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and the high-quality standards of the company, and that each maximizes the company’s profit opportunities.
  • Participates in constructability Review Meetings when requested by Estimating. Present comments and concerns relative to site logistics, construction, material sections, and required details.
  • Conducts formal start-up meetings and planning meetings to orient the subcontractors with their specific scopes of work.
  • When working in existing facilities or campuses, holds planning meetings to include the owner and subcontractors to coordinate construction operations with the activities of the facility or campus.
  • Develops scheduling with Project Manager and CPM.
  • Develops a project logistics plan in conjunction with the project schedule to effectively and efficiently execute the work.
  • Develops a project specific job safety program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Must have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
  • Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
