Job Description:

Summary: The primary duties of the Staff Accountant are to maintain financial records, process transactions, and prepare reports. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and enter applicable journal entries to maintain the general ledger
Organize financial data into useable information
File Sales taxes
Maintain and update accounting records and files
Conduct regular ledger and bank reconciliations
Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers
Handle the processing and maintenance of the company's general ledger
Assist with the preparation of financial reports
Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures
Performs other duties as necessary to support the accounting department.

Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Knowledge of accrual accounting methods and knowledge of accounting software applications.
Skilled in performing accounting procedures; preparing and maintaining accurate records; compiling & preparing financial reports, specifically related to A/R and A/P.
Skilled in creating and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent management and supervisory skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills required.
Ability to recognize and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment and diplomacy.
Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
Ability to define accounting problems and recommend solutions.
Ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines.
Ability to compile and present financial reports related to A/R and A/P




Education and Experience:

Associate degree in accounting required, bachelor's degree with major course work in accounting or business is preferred.
Five years or more of related experience required.


Language Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short to long correspondence, and memos. Ability to write complex correspondence. The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group presentations to customers, clients, and other employees of the company. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations. Listens and gets clarification. Listen to others without interrupting.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of accounting modular based programs. Extensive knowledge of third-party credit card programs. AccountMate a plus.

The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to utilize the computer monitor.
