About the Opportunity
This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
This position is responsible for maintaining the company's books and records in accordance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Uniform System of Accounts. The positions are within the Regulatory Accounting & Reporting department which is a central department for all FERC reporting and accounting.
This position will report to the Manager, Distribution & Commodity Accounting
Responsibilities include:
Provide for the monthly accounting of purchases, handling and consumption related to coal, fuel reagents and oil.
Administer the Aligne fuel accounting system and ensure reconciliation to SAP
Maintain third-party supplier contraction information
Perform monthly fuel quality calculations
Develop process improvements for complex processes
Ownership of SOX controls and process over fuel and emissions accounting include the annual inventory
Coordinating tests and reviews associated with internal and external audits
Maintaining a broad understanding of the FERC Uniform System of Accounting and become an expert in regulatory requirements for commodity accounting
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
Minimum 7 years relevant work experience. Relevant work experience includes processing accounting journals/transactions and reporting of financial data.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across organization at all leveles
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desire to learn, grow, anticipate and work across FirstEnergy to deliver quality results within established deadlines.
Experience and proficiency with SAP and FERC uniform system of accounts preferred.
Able to complete responsibilities proficiently and independently
