The Manager, Category Analytics and Capabilities will be responsible for development of tools, resources, and processes that deliver a competitive advantage for Tyson and enhance the understanding of shoppers, categories, shelving, and retailers. This role will support the retail & Walmart category management teams in managing and leveraging a suite of analytical tools that drive insights and opportunities in sales, assortment, merchandising and space. This role will support the full portfolio across Tyson's prepared & fresh categories and require collaboration across functions within the commercial organization to deliver desired resources for sales performance, assortment, shelf measurement, etc. and create solutions that enhance Tyson's speed to insight. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Category Analytics & Capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Synthesizes and distills complex analytics into actionable insights and recommendations to all levels of the organization.
Supports the implementation of emerging best practices and leads projects to advance Tyson analytics capabilities.
Serves as additional point of contact for syndicated sales/panel, audit, and assortment data providers to deliver highest quality data.
Applies expert knowledge of syndicated tools and category dynamics to create and deliver analytic tools and reports that are used to drive Tyson and category growth,
Identifies opportunities and strategies for category and macro-space optimization and assortment optimization.
Delivers national syndicated reporting of topline business results, pricing, and market opportunities.
Collaborates with Marketing Analytics to identify opportunities to share and integrate data resources across teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BA/BS Degree with preferred focus in Business, Management, Marketing, Statistics, Operations Research, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a consumer-packaged-goods company, retailer, or combination of Analytics, Statistical modeling, Category Management, Sales, and/or Consumer Insights experience with demonstrated success. Field experience a plus.
Computer Skills: Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge and experience with data warehousing, database management, and data visualization applications such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar systems preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. especially with exposure to executive levels. Able to communicate complex material in a concise, easy to understand way. Able to develop objective point-of-view, be seen as strategic thought leader on team, and build constructive rapport with internal clients and outside research suppliers.
Food industry experience strongly preferred. Frozen, refrigerated, or fresh experience a plus.
Understanding of retailer relationships and category management principles
