As a Machinist you will work in the fast-paced Technical Operation department. The Machinist plays a very important role in providing quality service to our internal customers. The Machinist should have strong working knowledge and abilities to perform repairs and manufacture parts on a daily basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and operate all types of conventional machines, Grinders, Lathes, Mills, and related equipment in the manufacture, rework, and repair of aircraft parts and components.
Set up and perform machining operations on conventional manual machine tools such as grinders, milling machines, lathes, and drills.
Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and piece parts out of metal, plastics and composites.
Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability.
Inventory Control and Scrap Utilization.
Ensure that all tools and equipment in work area is calibrated and in serviceable condition.
Ensure that all forms requiring a signature stamp or initials have been completed prior to submitting the unit for final inspection.
Review work performed for accuracy and quality.
Ensure the proper handling of all parts while being processed.
Ensure that the correct parts are being manufactured by reviewing the Work Order.
Ensure that rejected and/or unserviceable parts are segregated from other material to prevent their use as serviceable parts.
Observes all safety and security procedures.
Uses equipment and materials properly.
Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Highschool Diploma or GED.
Mechanic or Repair Station Certificate required per 14 CFR Part 65.
A&P license, FCC, Military Technical education/training (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years' work experience within the aviation industry
Preferred:
Strong troubleshooting knowledge down to component level using measuring gauges and test equipment.
Knowledge of electronic business systems Microsoft Office, Quantum or other internal business management system.
Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:
Comprehensive knowledge of four major machine groups: Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinders, and Drills through a formal apprenticeship program or extensive experience.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
Must be familiar with precision measuring instruments and have the ability to machine parts to close tolerances.
Strong troubleshooting knowledge down to component level using measuring gauges and test equipment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Parts Manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must read, write and speak English fluently.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a "shop" type environment.
Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.
