SUMMARY

Responsible for the strategy, development, deployment, and optimization of product training for Subaru of America (SOA) Field staff and retailers. Product training will be developed into a cohesive curriculum to inform, educate, evaluate, and motivate non-technical Retailer, SOA Field, Distributor partners, Vendor partners, and corporate staff to elevate product knowledge, increase retail sales, and enhance the customer experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintains responsibility for Subaru product training curriculum strategy and assets that can be utilized by the Subaru Field Team and Subaru retailers. Responsibilities for Subaru product training development include:

    • Performing an assessment of training needs to address both what Subaru retailer staff needs and what Subaru of America (SOA) corporate requires to meet company goals.
    • Developing professional-level training curriculum both in-house and in cooperation with selected vendors. Determines curriculum content and design to best attain company objectives. Curriculum assets could include eLearning courses, instructor-led training (ILT), drive programs, and resource documents.
    • Creating training programs that focus on continually integrating selling skills with product knowledge and the Love Promise while improving the sales process and customer experience.

  • Manages direction, strategy, and performance for multiple external vendor partners for a variety of training development solutions and content production including management of contracts, Statements of Work (SOW), and Vendor Service Agreements.
  • Translates technical product attributes, features, and benefits coupled with the vehicle's messaging strategy and creates relatable information for customer/retailer-facing staff and SOA Field.
  • Owns information, content, timing, and planning for product-focused training on the Foundations learning platform. Ensures that product eLearning courses are strategically aligned with vehicle availability.
  • Provides strategic overall direction to and oversees the Owner Education Training Manager, who is responsible for initial ownership education initiatives and programs such as Love Encore, Dynamic Delivery Checklist, and Getting Started Guides.
  • Motivates and leads Field Training Team facilitation and knowledge resources to drive overall product success and owner satisfaction. Maintains "dotted line" management responsibility for the Regional Product Training Managers (RPTMs).

    • Supports the on-boarding and continued education of the RPTMs. Offers coaching and guidance and helps direct their efforts as it relates to product and process knowledge.
    • Ensures that the RPTMs are coordinating with and developing the Zone Retailer Training Managers (ZRTMs) effectively.

  • Strategizes, plans, and executes the deployment of training activities at the National Business Conference (NTC), National Training Conference (NBC), Retailer Drive Programs, and Retail Operations Training Department Conference. Partners and coordinates with National Sales Training Manager (NSTM) to implement and execute plans. Takes the lead in planning and maintains ownership and responsibility as it relates to product training.
  • Performs on-camera to facilitate training to capture eLearning content and other various training initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Subaru Corporation (SBR), SOA Field Team, Product Launch Team, Product Management, Connected Vehicle Business, and external partners on product launch and on-going support initiatives.
  • Oversees ordering, maintenance, and end of life for departmental, vendor-partner, and program vehicles.
  • Researches and maintains knowledge of competitive product, emerging technologies, and automotive industry trends.
  • Oversees production, scheduling, inventory, and evolution of the Sales and Product Training Garage Studio production space at 7041.

Required Skills and Personal Qualifications

  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate and build strong partnerships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and deadline oriented.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in parallel without close supervision.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on advanced automotive theories. Able to convey technical information in a simple, easy to understand manner.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and the ability to communicate recommendations for training approach.
  • Extraordinary communication, facilitation, coaching, and 1-on-1 skills in any environment - dedicated to fostering improvement in others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills - must be able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels in the organization, retailers, and outside vendors and establish strong, mutually beneficial relationships internally and externally within the organization.
  • Ability to maintain certification in all Sales/Fixed Operations brand, product, technology, and skills courses.

Education/Experience Requirements: 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) and 10-12 years' experience

Work Environment


  • Required Travel: 50% travel required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that satisfied the requirements of SOA Driving Record Evaluation Criteria Policy.

    • Must be approved as an "Authorized Driver" by Risk Management to operate vehicles prior to vehicle operation.
    • Must be able to operate all Subaru products including manual transmission vehicles.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $111500 - $159200 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
