Doctorate in Animal Science or a closely related field. Ph.D. candidates who are near completion will be considered.
Must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and possess excellent communication skills; be technically current; be an enthusiastic team player who is willing to work in a multidisciplinary program; and have demonstrated skills in leadership.
Equine experience with a strong background in Western equitation. Experience in reproductive physiology, or genetics.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in animal science. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in equine reproduction, genetics, or exercise physiology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horsemanship and working with young stock. Teaching opportunities may include horse production, anatomy, reproduction, genetics, lameness and rehabilitation, introductory/advanced western horsemanship, breaking and training, other courses in the core animal science courses, or graduate level courses depending on departmental needs, the individual's interests, educational background, and skill level.
Additional responsibilities include participation in and conducting departmental-sponsored events. Participation in faculty governance and service activities at the departmental, college, and university levels is also expected. Faculty members are also expected to engage in scholarly activity. Activities are broadly defined and may include the scholarship of teaching, research, or similar activities.
This position is security sensitive.
