The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of proton therapy. As this position is located within the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, experience in proton therapy is highly preferred. This position will also work with our OncoLink team; therefore, experience in administering internet based educational programs for patients and providers also highly preferred. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Must be currently Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology.
Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching, training and mentoring of radiation oncology residents, medical physics residents, medical physics graduate students, visiting physics residents or trainees from other institutions or other countries, etc. Other informal and formal teachings include, but are not limited to participating in resident didactic series, both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant.
Clinical responsibilities may include providing conventional radiation, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), proton therapy, photon and proton reirradiation, and total body irradiation (TBI) as treatment modalities in the care of patients.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing and leading prospective clinical trials and developing novel approaches and technologies for medical student and resident education. Individual must show a clear trajectory with significant clinical research and publications.
Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and medical students. Penn Medicine delivers a broad range of radiation therapy services to its patients, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, partial breast irradiation, and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS/SBRT using Gamma Knife /Cyberknife/Varian Linac). Patients will also have access to proton therapy at the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, housing the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room.
