Summary of Duties:
The Learning and English as a Second Language (ESL) Manager exercises independent, professional judgment and is responsible for the coordination, development, and implementation of both learning assistance support for the health sciences student population and ESL support, programs, and initiatives for second language students on the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus. This position is responsible for 1) providing the health sciences student population with guidance regarding development of skills and strategies to enhance student learning and success and 2) supporting health sciences second language students in the development of their clinical and technical language capabilities.
Learning and ESL services will be provided through individual student appointments, workshops, in-class presentations, and development of materials, including online content and tools for the Student Success Center website. This position may also assist with the development and implementation of Peer Tutor training program and will collaborate with the Learning Specialist based on the WSU Health Sciences campus in Yakima.
Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
