Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

About the team



The Northeast Regional Team at College Board is a dynamic, high-energy team focused on expanding opportunities for students by partnering with educators in state departments of education, school districts, schools, and educational organizations to expand opportunities for students to own their futures. We sit within State & District Partnerships (SDP) (100+ staff), a highly engaged group that works to provide opportunities to students through promoting the use of College Board programs and services (SAT, PSAT, & AP) and BigFuture.



About the opportunity



As the Executive Director, you will report to the Regional Vice President (RVP), and you will be responsible for driving the execution of the 3-5-year strategy in your region while managing the region's K-12 service team and College Board's local and state partnerships/account initiatives. In doing so, you will lead and manage the K-12 services team to achieve enterprise, divisional, and regional goals that have broad impact within and across the College Board. You will serve as a liaison to and with other SDP Executive Directors, the College Readiness Assessment, BigFuture, and Advanced Placement programs, the SDP division and other divisions on initiatives that have broad impact to College Board programs. You also may be assigned by the RVP or Senior Vice President special assignments or additional liaison roles. This position will require you to independently take initiative, make decisions, and drive projects forward.



In this role, you will:



Manage & Coach Your Team (40%)




  • Lead and inspire a high-performing K-12 team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, growth and excellence to meet regional short-term, medium-term and long-term goals






  • Manage and mentor a team in their work with states, Top 250 districts, and influential organizations across the country






  • Provide coaching and support to K-12 staff in the development and delivery of presentations, workshops, and professional development programs to ensure they deliver results for and with their districts and states).






  • Identify emerging staff professional development needs and align individual and team supports accordingly






  • Partner with regional VP to refine engagement plan and execute plan with the regional team alongside the VP






  • Ensure effective communication across all levels of unit, promoting transparency and alignment to organization, division, and unit. This includes designing and delivering strong team meeting content, spearheading regular regional communications, managing time-sensitive requests of the team from internal stakeholders, etc.






  • Build and own strong relationships with external partners, donors, and community stakeholders




Conduct analysis to inform data driven decisions (30%)




  • Develop and implement a data driven sales plan for the region aligned to the regional strategy to enable greater growth as evidenced by key performance indicators






  • Maximize the use of CB tools to conduct meaningful analysis and deliver useful insights to grow volumes in key regional markets






  • Leverage regional and state data as well as market trends to analyze and drive the execution of sales and service actions and deliverables through K-12 team that are aligned with the vision and strategy within the region






  • Identify and elevate to the RVP regional trends from a variety of data sources (e.g., progress to goal, pipeline data and other sources) to both inform regional strategy and decision-making as well as divisional and program and service strategy






  • Analyze data to help understand the most effective sales strategies and approaches across all states in the region






  • Regularly measure and monitor sales data towards opportunities and progress to goals




Develop and drive strategy based on business need (30%)




  • Serve as a senior leader driving the regional team towards delivering organizational priorities in alignment with regional strategy






  • Support the implementation of strategic sales plans across all states in the region through K-12 team






  • Strategically prioritize among competing priorities, to allocate resources effectively and make informed decisions that align with long-term regional goals and drive sustainable growth






  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to define and refine program and service, sales, and operational strategy for the region and division. Provide input on organizational strategy as requested.






  • Strategize across teams to expand partner adoption of College Board programs and services






  • In consultation, with the Regional Vice President, adapt strategies based on changing business dynamics, market trends, and emerging opportunities






  • Bridge the gap between program initiatives, alignment with regional priorities, and execution of key deliverables holding regional teams accountable for results






  • Identify promising practices and innovations within the region and elevate them within the region and across the division to accelerate our work





About You



You have:





  • You are based out of: Conneticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island or Vermont



  • 8+ years of directly related, progressively responsible work experience at the senior level in the public, private, or the not-for-profit sectors






  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of primary, secondary, and higher education environments, and of educational systems (schools, districts, colleges, departments of education, agencies)






  • A clear record of results






  • 5-7+ years of experience as a manager of people and ideally with experience as a manager of managers






  • Demonstrated ability to lead, provide vision for, coach and develop a diverse staff of professionals






  • Ability to independently resolve challenges and find innovative solutions






  • Ability to take proactive steps to improve process and address issues






  • A commitment to effective communication, transparency in processes, and excellence in customer service






  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent oral presentation/public speaking skills and the ability to facilitate meetings well






  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to navigate conflicts and manage complex relationships






  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or the willingness and ability to quickly learn them






  • A valid driver's license and the willingness and ability to drive






  • A willingness and ability to travel extensively, up to 50%

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $128,000-190,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
