About the Team
APĀ® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is continuing to rapidly expand its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The team currently consists of 14 talented and collaborative professionals with expertise in a variety of domains that are integral to the assessment production process and will expand to 20+ team members over the next year.
To support the continued production of high-quality teacher- and student-facing materials, the AP Program is looking fill the role of Project Manager, AP Assessment Production.
About the Opportunity
As the Project Manager, AP Assessment Production, you will oversee project and process management for assessment authoring and review for up to 3 AP courses, maintaining and communicating detailed reporting and status tracking across a number of interdependent workstreams. Partnering with AP content teams, external consultant content creators, and various other stakeholders, you will ensure that all assessment items are developed to designated specifications and on needed timelines.
As Director, AP Assessment Production, you are an integral member of the cross-functional team building and delivering AP Exams and Instructional resources. You are a collaborative, insightful, and highly-motivated professional, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for educational opportunity. You are not shy about digging into ambiguity and you are quick to propose more efficient ways of getting things done.
In this role, you will:
Project Planning (40%)
Develop and maintain detailed item authoring and review schedules for all summative and formative assessments for each of the courses you manage
Collaborate with CB stakeholders (AP Assessment, AP Classroom, Technology, Digital Delivery) as well as external partners to define and implement requirements for AP assessment products based on the requirements of the range of AP courses, platforms, and formats
Partner with AP content teams to build and maintain detailed assessment item and form specifications, monitoring existing item inventory and scoping/scheduling assessment production work accordingly
Support the recruitment, on-boarding, and continued professional learning of high-quality independent consultants to serve as content creators across all applicable courses
Project Management (40%)
Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of the status of all assessment deliverables under your management
Facilitate multiple levels of internal and external reviews for all AP assessment products and resources, ensuring all feedback is considered and integrated
Serve as the representative for assessment production for each of the courses you manage to both internal and external audiences, triaging obstacles and escalating roadblocks and delays, as needed
Lead weekly stand-ups with all relevant AP content teams, providing visibility into and accountability for current work status and upcoming deliverables
Budget and track all costs in your purview and recommend efficient staffing and resourcing solutions
Process Development and Improvement (20%)
Integrate project management tools for your course(s) with processes managed by other key stakeholders In the Assessment Production value chain
Collaborate with peers and the broader Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current project management practices
Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis
About You
You Have:
Bachelor's degree is required
5+ years of relevant product and/or project management experience is required, preferably in the education industry
High degree of personal ownership and accountability to consistently deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational and time management skills with a process-oriented mindset
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels of the organization
An ability to embrace ambiguity and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar tasks
Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and draw insightful conclusions to drive decision-making
Willingness and ability to travel domestically 1-2 times per quarter

About Our Process

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $80,000 to $130,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
Your salary will be carefully determined based on your location, relevant experience, the external labor market, and the pay of College Board employees in similar roles. College Board strives to provide our best offer up front based on this criteria.
